Jung Gicheul, beginning to have suspicions, starts to dig into Seungho's & Euijeong's pasts.

Junmo fast-tracks his way into the inner circle of the Gangnam Union by arranging a scenario where he will be around to "protect" Gicheul from an attack.

A young Jung Gicheul and Euijeong sing in their church choir, however, Gicheul is paying far more attention to her than to the music. Later, Gicheul asks Euijeong if she wants to see a movie with him and she accepts, Euijeong gives him the cross necklace she just bought, and they get their picture taken together.

Euijeong and her mother sit outside while her mother hopes wistfully that Junmo will come to visit her soon. Euijeong says that he's busy but he will. She then asks her mother if she remembers Gicheul. Her mother does, and knows that he became a gangster; Euijeong is surprised that her mother knows, but her mother points out that when you've lived in the same place with someone for years you end up hearing all kinds of things.

Euijeong then recalls, when she was a teenager, running through their housing complex to see Gicheul's mother, covered in blood, being escorted out by the police. As everyone around gossips about it, Gicheul, his mother, and his younger sister are driven away in the police car.

In the Gangnam Union HQ, Gicheul stands by the window before a statue of the Virgin Mary, wearing the cross necklace that Euijeong gave him all those years ago and holding it thoughtfully. From another room, Junmo watches this resentfully.

In his office, Detective Cheon gets a fax from Gicheul asking him to look into Seungho's past, and into Euijeong's past, including who her husband is.

Later, Junmo, at the payphone, talks to Euijong, who is in the Undercover Operations HQ with Dohyung and Cho Chansik.

Outside the police station, Section Chief Lee meets with Detective Cheon, giving him information in exhange for a bribe hidden in a box of donuts.

The Gangnam Union men are getting changed to go into a public bath when Detective Cheon arrives and gives Gicheul the information he asked for.

According to Detective Cheon, Seungho's (Junmo's) father, Kwon Jangseok, was convicted four times for violating the Narcotic Control Act. He says he will go to Wonju to check what schools he attended.

Furthermore, Detective Cheon explains, Euijeong's father is the former commissioner of the SMPA, Yu Dukhoon, who retired the year before. Euijeong's mother is getting cancer treatment at Yeongdong Severance Hospital. He then tells Gicheul that Euijeong's husband is Park Junmo, and pulls out a picture, showing it to Gicheul.

Gicheul calls Seungho (Junmo) aside and asks him if he has ever met Park Junmo, showing him his file. The attached photograph is of Seok Dohyung. Junmo says he has not heard of him. Gicheul then asks who is more handsome, himself or "Park Junmo" (Seok Dohyung) and reluctantly Junmo answers that Gicheul is more handsome.

Outside the police station, Cho Changsik confronts Section Chief Lee about his corruption and blackmails/bribed him into working for him. When Section Chief Lee leaves, he says to Dohyung that it's lucky they already created the false information about Kwon Seungho's past.

In the Undercover Operations HQ, Junmo comes up with an idea to put pressure on Gicheul.

Driving on patrol with Bae Yongdae, Yongdae asks Junmo where he goes during the day instead of sleeping in his apartment. Junmo says he goes into the subway and sleeps there. Junmo catches sight of a truck full of masked men that soon speed up and race toward Gangnam Union HQ. Junmo drives after them as the masked men break in and call for Jung Gicheul as they attack. Junmo shows up and gets Gicheul to safety before fighting the masked intruders until they run away, leaving only a flashlight behind. He is slightly wounded on the forehead so they take him to the clinic. The gang is shaken by the attack that seems to have come from the Busan gang, and Choi Jungbae promises that Chief Seo will take up the room next to Gicheul's to protect him from now on. Gicheul is unimpressed that none of his men except Seungho were there during the attack, and chooses Seungho as his bodyguard instead.

Jungbae orders Yongdae to get Seungho a cell phone, then goes to join Gicheul outside. Hong Heesung then gives Yongdae some cash and tells him to buy Seungho and himself new suits.

At the payphone, Junmo says that he is now Jung Gicheul's personal bodyguard, and says that Dohyung probably shouldn't tell the others that Gicheul had a gun during the attack. A group of policemen—who were the masked attackers—are now celebrating and joking, talking about how awesome the fight was and wondering who "Seungho" is, since he was so good at fighting to make it look like he was hurting them when instead it was only a collection of feints. Dohyung says he's just a thug, a snitch.

Now in a better suit, Junmo enters the Gangnam Union HQ as the men rebuild after the attack. Jungbae shows him one of the door passcodes—the code is Jungbae's birthday; however he refuses to answer any of Junmo's other questions. Now in his room, "Seungho" calls from his new phone, saying that calls from Euijeong should be allowed so they should call this number in the future. In Gicheul's office, Gicheul asks him about Euijeong and wonders why she married a "lame countryside detective." He takes Junmo with him to visit Euijeong's mother, but Junmo asks to stay behind with the car.

Tsuyoshi Oyama (Yakuza) and Song Donghyuk (Busan Gang) discuss getting rid of Jung Gicheul, while next to a painting of a house with a dog.

Gicheul gives Euijeong's mother a cashmere scarf and they discuss his mother. An orderly who comes in thinks Gicheul is Euijeong's mother's son-in-law. Outside, Euijeong's mother asks if Gicheul is really a gangster. Junmo watches from far off. Gicheul says he isn't and promises he doesn't do bad things. He then gets a call from Kanemoto and affirms that Kanemoto should go through with his plan. Kanemoto has the men he's meeting with killed, including Song Donhyuk. Back in Gangnam Union HQ, Gicheul tells his inner circle that Kanemoto took care of Song Donghyuk. Later, Oh Kyungjin taunts Junmo while shining a flashlight in his eyes, which he then sticks in a duffle bag that the inner circle will take to go fishing.

After seeing them off, Junmo asks Kyungjin how often Gicheul goes fishing, and Kyungjin says a couple of times a month. Gicheul gets on the boat. Back at Gangnam Union HQ, the men go out to drink, but Junmo stays behind. After shorting the electricity so the security cameras won't record him, he goes through the HQ, taking pictures of everything he can, and using a paper where he has written the birthdays of the Gangnam Union members, which are being used as passcodes. Gicheul's private rooms stymie him at first, until he realizes that Gicheul has used Euijeong's birthday as the passcode. In Undercover Operations HQ, he shows Cho Chansik and Dohyung the evidence, and explains that Gicheul didn't have any fishing gear in his room, so he suspects the "fishing expedition" is a ruse. He decides to try to get invited onto one of the fishing trips.

TOKYO METROPOLITAN POLICE DEPARTMENT, JAPAN

The Japanese police have realized that Korean mob boss Song Donghyuk has gone missing and was probably killed; they suspect he's involved in the meth trade. After entering Japan on the 15th, he went missing.

A young gang-member goes to a vintage store to get some of "Gangnam Crystal" the meth that the Gangnam Union is selling, so he can disperse it. He makes a sale in the park, but is then cornered by Manager Cho, who he had proviously worked for. Manager Cho's men beat him up and take him with them.

On the fishing trip, the flashlight is out of batteries. When changing the batteries with Heesung, Jungbae notices that it's a police-issued flashlight. After showing Gicheul, they wonder if the thugs that attacked them were really police in disguise and not part of the Busan gang as they'd thought.

At night, Manager Cho confronts Jungbae behind a school, angry that the Gangnam Union has taken his business, and takes Jungbae away with him to kill him, but leaves the body of the young gang-member there at the school.

A car is being annoying, and finally the group stops. Manager Cho has Baby go and see what's up. A woman is driving the car, but Gicheul is hiding in the trunk with a taser. He attacks the group, leaves Manager Cho's men unconscious by the side of the road, and goes with Jungbae to a deserted place.

In Gangnam Union HQ, Chief Seo informs Junmo that they're going somewhere. They meet up with Gicheul, Heesung, Jungbae, and Manager Cho, who they have tied up and begun to torment. Jungbae explains that Manager Cho tried to kill Gicheul, and he and Heesung torment him some more. Jungbae proceeds to hit Manager Cho with a baseball bat while insulting him until Gicheul tells him to wrap it up. Gicheul goes to shoot him, but then gives the gun to Junmo and tells Junmo to shoot Manager Cho instead, so Gicheul knows he can trust him. Junmo holds the gun unwillingly, and attempts to shoot Manager Cho.
